Bio of Gary Giroux

Currently, I'm Shelton Professor of Accounting at Texas A&M University.  My primary research interest is governmental accounting, where I use regression and other econometric techniques in governmental auditing, public choice, agency theory and other models. I'm also interested in accounting history (see my history webpage) and currently writing a brief overview of accounting and business history.  I teach a couple of courses in the Ph.D. program, which I greatly enjoy. I take great pleasure in meeting all our graduates at our annual AAA conference. I teach financial analysis and sometimes teach government accounting.  My latest book is Earnings Magic.

My list is fun stuff is growing.  I'm a stamp collector (Stamps) (U.S. Civil War era revenue stamps), golfer (duffer), and scuba diver (which I don't do enough of).  My wife and I love to travel, which we hope to do more of, I read a lot (everything from history and bios to Brother Cadfael), and I do a bit of gardening.  I hope to write some fiction in the not to distant future.

My wife Naomi is a legal nurse consultant (see Naomi's homepage) and has spent some 30 years in nursing in various capacities.  She also is a writer (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0595094406/qid%3D965670521/102-6803375-2136915).  Our daughter is a nurse and has one child (yes, we spoil our grandkid rotten).  Our son is in construction.
