FINAL MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS
All manuscripts accepted for publication in the Review and Proceedings must be completed in WordPerfect 7.0 or higher or Word 97 or higher and submitted on a 3.5" diskette (or e-mailed) and in hard copy on “STANDARD” 8.5 x 11 white letter-quality paper.
1. Spacing and Type. All manuscripts should be single-spaced and must be Times New Roman, size 11.
2. Margins. The first page of the manuscript should have a two-inch margin from the top of the first page. Side and bottom margins on the first page and all margins on subsequent pages should be one inch. The paragraphs should have a five space indentation.
3. Title and Headings. Manuscript titles should be centered and bolded in all capital letters. (1) First-level headings should have a triple-space below text and be centered, bolded, and in all capital letters with no numbers. (2) Second-level headings should be centered and bolded, with only the first letters of main words capitalized. (3) Third-level headings should be at the left margin and underlined, with the first letter of main words capitalized. There should be a triple-space before subheadings with a double-space after each subheading.
4. Abstract. The abstract should appear three spaces below the title in a section entitled ABSTRACT and should present the principal substantive or theoretical points of the manuscript in no more than 100 words. An abstract is not needed for the Proceedings.
5. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations.
a. Southwestern Economic Review: Tables should be typed on separate
pages with notations inserted in the manuscript such as [Table 1 about
here]. Camera-ready copy for figures and illustrations should be submitted
on separate pages. The headings should be in all capital letters. The table
format or tab key should be used in lieu of “spacing over” when constructing
tables.
b. Proceedings: Tables, figures, and illustrations should be placed
within the text two spaces before and after, should be in the same type
as the text, and should not be placed horizontally. The headings should
be in all capital letters. The table format or tab key should be used in
lieu of “spacing over” when constructing tables.
6. Formulas. Formulas should be single-spaced with two spaces below and above each formula. Each formula should have a number in the parentheses on the right margin.
7. Endnotes and References. Endnotes should be used rather than footnotes. The endnotes should be consecutively numbered within the text and appear at the end of the manuscript in a section labeled Endnotes. All references to books, articles, monographs, etc., should be numbered and placed at the end of the text portion of the paper but before the endnotes in a section labeled References. References should be identified at the appropriate point in the text by using the number of the reference; e.g., reference number 4, page 23, should be cited as [4, p. 23]. For specific reference format, please refer to The Chicago Manual of Style.
